Gallmeister, a publishing house specialized in American literature

Olivier Gallmeister is interest in American literature. He created his publishing house in 2005. He has specialized in a particular genre which was untapped in France: the Nature Writing.
This literature reminds the large spaces in the West and the North of United-States. The publisher’s logo, a bear paw, is a symbol of this wild.

The Gallmeister’s collection “Nature Writing” reveals the descendants of Fennimore Cooper, Jack London and Marc Twain to readers.
However, the catalog is also opened at detective novels and urban contemporary texts.

In 2010, the publisher developed a paperbacks collection: “Totem”. This name is inspired by Ojibwé Amerindians. It’s a reference to the United-States origins.

The same year, the David Vann’s novel, Sukkwan Island, was traduced and published. This text took advantage of a high success in France. The author was awarded with the Médicis Prize.
