This last October 31st, the Parisian photographer, Christophe Jacrot, decided to go to New York to photograph the passage of the hurricane Sandy over the city. Usually, this artist is interested in changes of the weather. He realizes images of cities in the rain, the snow or bad weather.
This time, he thought discover New York City down a violent storm. But it was not so impressive that he expected. He was more interested in the power shutdown in the south of Manhattan.

The city which never sleeps seems stopped. Without lights, the southern of Manhattan seemed dead.
Christophe Jacrot took the opportunity of the unaccustomed darkness of New York to realize an exceptional images series. There was no light in the streets, only headlights of taxies, torches of passengers and police’s revolving light.
His photos remind science fiction aesthetic. With these images of New York City, we imagine a desert world. It seems to post apocalyptic landscape. In that way, this photographic work of Christophe Jacrot is unreal, sensitive and emotional. We could only see New York in this way in movies or imaginary.
In this desert urban landscape, “man becomes a ghostly silhouette wandering” (Christophe Jacrot). (198)
