Week 7
The Universal's century
Universal Pictures is one of the
biggest movie productions in the world and it’s the oldest American studio,
created in 1912. It made possible the creation of the famous classics and
blockbusters of the American cinema. Its catalogue is a treasure for many movie
fans generations.
Hitchcock, Spielberg and other
major directors of Hollywood created their works in Universal Pictures’
studios.
Universal Pictures conserves the
original versions of all its movies. It restores also several films, like Jaws by Steven Spielberg. The objectives
are to retouch pictures which are damaged by the time with the new technologies
and to adapt the movies for the new formats of distribution.
But it’s very important to protect
the original works, to conserve the characteristics of these Hollywood’s
masterpieces.
