Jason de Caires Taylor is an
English sculptor specializing in underwater sculptures. He lives actually in Cancun,
and his latest work is “Urban Reef”: construction of little houses underwater
for fishes and crustaceans. Before, he had created for example “The Silent
Evolution”, in 2010, which is an army of men and women (403 people). Those cement
people represents the Mayan civilization, in an eye form. The objective, like
with the houses for fishes, is to create an artificial reef and developed news
species in this sea. So, in his art work, this artist have an environmental
move and he thinks that “human intervention or interaction with nature can be
positive and sustainable, an icon of how we can live in a symbiotic
relationship with nature”. Inert forms can be transformed in life and humans can be mix with the
infinity. Numerous publications and documentaries have featured his extraordinary
work, including the BBC, CNN, USA Today, the Guardian…
