Week end 7 : Océane Doucet, Brave

"Brave", Pixar’s New Animated Film

Brave is a 2012 American computer-animated fantasy adventure film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Picture.

The new heroine of Pixar - Disney is the first redhead princess in the history of cartoons. Goods for things they different from other princesses. In particular, she is totally opposed to Rapunzel.  She is a war, she has bad hair, tears his clothes and disobeyed is not afraid of witches.  She did not expect, like other princesses traditional, her charming prince sitting behind the window.  As the article says, the story is banal, simple, but making it a cartoon is the charm of music and drawings. The atmosphere is festive, vibrant and beautiful, we have a Irland who we make dreaming...

Brave is a princess who loves adventure, she laughs, she mocks. She gives to the girls a new vision of the princess, a girl who is not subject to arranged weeding by her parents. The drawings are very realistic, all the details are present. For example loops of Brave fly in all directions. Each person is a caricature of the modern world, the father takes no decision, he likes to eat and fight, Brave mother is very strict, she is in charge. The traditional roles are exchanged.  May be this can be an impact on the relationships mothers and daughters.

The film score to Brave was composed by Patrick Doyle.  Doyle used native Scottish instruments such as bagpipes, a solo fiddle, Celtic harps, flutes and the bodhrán. Le compositeur nous plonge dans une ambiance 100% celtique.
