Grace, a memoir by Grace Coddington.

 Benoit S.

Grace Coddington, left, and Anna Wintour in “The September Issue.”
Have you ever seen the documentary called “The September issue”? It shows the work by Anna Wintour and her team to make the September issue of Vogue (which is the most important number for the year!) The main character of this documentary is Anna Wintour- of course- the goddess of fashion who can break a career with a beating of lash (take a look at the Devil wears Prada movie where the main character is inspired by her!) but the film is hijack by this sensational woman Grace Coddington who is Vogue’s creative director. Wintour’s has the style, Coddington the artistical view. And you can see how it works since so many years!!!

She has lived so many life, her life could be as a movie, it seems normal that, at the age of 71 she wrote her memoire! It tells a story about a young English girl who became a model in 1959. At the beginning of the sixties, she helps to create the archetyp of the woman of the 60’s by posing for Vogue or other great fashion magazines.

Grace Coddington’s first model card in 1959.
In the book, she also mentioned her car accident which abruptly stopped her model career. Thanks to her contacts, she starts to work for Vogue, till today where she is Creative director (the Second place after Anna Wintour.) This book is not only about her life but also about her work especially with the greatest photographer of our time. It contains also juicy gossip about working with Anna Wintour or Annie Leibovitz.

In Fashion, there are basics that you must possess, this book takes part of it!
